Common Problems with Solar Isolator Switches and How to Fix Them
Even high-quality solar isolator switches can face issues over time. One of the most common problems is overheating, often caused by loose connections or undersized cables. Regular maintenance and thermal imaging can detect these early.
Another issue is arcing due to worn contacts, especially under load. This can be prevented by always operating the switch without current flow when possible.
If the switch fails to isolate, check for mechanical failure or internal damage. In such cases, replace the unit immediately. Water ingress is another hazard; ensure the switch housing is properly sealed, especially in outdoor setups.
Document and report all faults for warranty claims and ensure future maintenance is informed by past incidents.
